Marketing Monday - Facebook and what not to do

Social media for businesses is reeeeeal simple. If you have a cool product, put that shit everywhere. If you do not, which most businesses do not, you have to add value to your posts.

Rule #1: Discounts

The first way to provide value to your customer is to literally provide value. If you want people to like a business profile, the easiest way is to offer coupons, discounts, giveaways etc.

Rule #2: Make it about the people

The second way to add value is to give your customers exactly what they want. Facebook is about people connecting with people so don't focus on your boring products, focus on your wonderful staff and events that people care about like holidays and birthdays.

Rule #3: Offer advice

The third way to provide value is to offer advice to people that is related to your product. Whether it's how to use your product, other products that relate to your product, or even ways that your customers could sell your product.

Bonus: Stay off other social media that you are not related to. If you don't sell pretty things, stay off instagram. If you don't sell ideas, stay off twitter. If you don't have "live, laugh, love" in your living room, stay off pinterest.
