Marketing Monday - Wix or Squarespace

The decision on which service you should use to create a website could be completely based on your current skill level. There are other things you should consider like how much traffic you're expecting, how much you'll be depending on Google for your traffic, whether or not you'll be selling products online, and if you have any specific features you want for your site.

Squarespace - Easiest

If you need an online presence so people can find you online (hint: everyone does), but you don't plan on selling anything and you don't plan on Google being your main marketing strategy, then Squarespace is a simple solution. They have templates that are complete and ready to go. Just trade the default images and information for yours and you are online.

This is the one you want if you have never done it before don't plan to do it again.

The problem I have with Squarespace, which is helpful at first and then extremely frustrating, is that there is not a lot of customization with it. Everything is pretty much set the way you see it in the template.

Wix - Medium

If you want to get paid to do websites Wix is a great place to start. It's a simple interface where you can start with a template but then also drag around and add elements as you please. Wix starts off really simple but actually has a lot of capability.

This is the on you want if you've done it before or you plan on doing it again.

The only issues I have with Wix is that it's easy to bog down with a lot of extra features so that it doesn't load quickly, if you're not detail oriented you can make an ugly site very quickly.

Wordpress - Hard

Wordpress is made for sites that expect a lot of traffic and expect to pull traffic from search engine searches. There are countless companies dedicated to making plugins for Wordpress to make your site as amazing as possible. Plugins like Yoast SEO, Constant Contact, and Beaver Builder all make it possible to get the exact experience and website you are looking for.

However, it's not worth going through the struggle if you're not getting paid or if the website is not directly responsible for your income. It's such a pain. Very customizable - such a pain.

This is the one you want if you are doing this professionally or you hate yourself.

Wordpress is going to boil down to which plugins you use.

Long story short:

I personally prefer Wix over everything, because it's easy, but it can be customized. But at this point every other aspect is on par with the other.

When I was making greenparkgifts.com I used Wix, and I love it. I used wordpress for ilovemynusmile.com and avalonbiomed.com but when it came time to redo my personal website, I went back to Wix.
